Obituary for James "Jim" Mandl Jochims

Passed to Eternal Life, Saturday, September 30, 2017, age 87 years. Jim was extremely loving and proud of his three daughters, Sandra (Jack) Shaw, Cheri (Fred) Austin, and Shelley Panos. Dear granddad of Andrea (Chris) O’Brien, Andrew (Tanya) Panos, Erica (Steven) Lex, and Alexandra Panos; Christopher, Colin and Courtney Austin. Great granddad of Alexis, Mackenzie, Jack, Landon, Claire, Matthew, Logan, Madison and Nora. Preceded in death by his wife of over 64 years, Marilyn “Lyn.” Close brother of Neal (Kathy) Jochims and the late Robert (Jo Delle). Also survived by nieces and nephews. With over 55 years in industrial sales, Jim had a long and fulfilling career and enjoyed mentoring others. When he wasn’t working, Jim loved golfing, fishing, playing cards, and being with family at his summer lake home in northwest Wisconsin. Jim was very social and charitable and especially committed to his membership and activities in the Masonic and Tripoli Shrine organizations, where he met many lifelong friends. He was a Past Worshipful Master of Henry L. Palmer Lodge, active member of Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Jesters, and El Hajj. Ever wearing a smile that lit up a room, Jim viewed life through a glass that was more than half full (and always needed refilling!). He eagerly and enthusiastically extended a helping hand to others. His optimism was illuminating and brought immense joy to those around him. Born on Thanksgiving Day, 1929, family and friends give bountiful thanks for the many years Jim touched their lives with love and devotion. He will be greatly missed. A private family celebration of Jim’s life will be held.
