Obituary for Joseph F. Fretschel

Of Milwaukee, found peace April 18th at the age of 78. Devoted husband of Jeanette (nee Leffler). Beloved father of Renee (Christopher) Lalko, Karla (Brian) Kevek, Karen (Michael) Scasny and Jodi Greenmeier. Loving grandfather of Isaac, Emily, Cole, Aaron, Hailey, Cade, Alec and Drew. Survived by dear sisters, brothers, and in-laws: Constance Garven, Robert (Sandra) Fretschel, Irene Karas, Thomas (Sandra) Fretschel, Joan Gaster, James (Judith) Leffler, Patrick Leffler, Frederick (Karen) Leffler, and William and Kathleen Petersen. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by dear mother Margaret, mother-in-law Jane, and sisters and brothers Corvin, Clara, Edward, Grace, and John. Visitation Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Matthias Catholic Church (9306 W Beloit Rd) 11:30AM – 1:45PM with eulogy and Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Joe was proud to have served in the U.S. Army and was a retired City of Milwaukee Police Officer. Joe was known to socialize, cheer from the stands, tell a joke, hold cocktail hour and hug loved ones close. Special thanks to the staff of St. Luke’s South Shore ICU, Hales Corners Care Center and Allay Hospice for their care and compassion. Memorials to the American Lung Association and the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.
